Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara Nears ₹1 Crore Advance Booking on Opening Day, Strategically Aims to Avoid Baahubali Clash
The Ravi Teja and Sreeleela starrer, Mass Jathara, postponed its Friday release to 6 PM to minimize competition with the colossal re-release of S. S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali The Epic, which has already smashed re-release records.
The new Telugu film, Mass Jathara, starring Ravi Teja and Sreeleela and directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu, is showing promising momentum in advance ticket sales. According to a report from Sacnilk.com, the film has grossed over ₹62.12 lakh in advance bookings for its opening day in the Telugu market alone.
This figure was achieved through the sale of 46,897 tickets across 2,315 shows.
In a strategic move to secure a stronger box office position, the film’s producers decided to set the worldwide release for 6 PM on Friday. This later timing aims to avoid a possible direct clash with the highly anticipated re-release of the Baahubali franchise compilation.
Sithara Entertainments, one of the film’s producers, celebrated the early success, tweeting, “This is just the beginning of the MASS Mania! #MassJathara into @bookmyshow hourly trends, setting the tone for an explosive box-office ride. Grand Premieres from TODAY @ 6 PM onwards Worldwide!”
Mass Jathara is an action-packed drama where Ravi Teja plays a justice-driven railway police officer. His character becomes central to a major drug bust, putting him in conflict with a ruthless syndicate led by Naveen Chandra, whose main weapon is a snake. Sreeleela plays the female lead and his love interest. The film also features veteran actor Rajendra Prasad as Ravi Teja’s eccentric grandfather.
The movie is jointly produced by Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments & Fortune Four Cinemas and is slated for its grand worldwide premiere on October 31.
The fierce competition for which Mass Jathara made its strategic move comes from the re-release of the epic franchise, titled Baahubali The Epic. This special version combines Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), both directed by S. S. Rajamouli.
The re-release has proven to be a massive phenomenon, setting unprecedented benchmarks for Indian cinema re-releases:
The original Baahubali: The Beginning starred Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar.
