Raza Murad Reacts To Ranveer Allahbadia's Controversial Remarks On 'India's Got Latent'
February 12, 2025: Veteran actor Raza Murad has voiced his strong disapproval of the controversial remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia on the show ‘India’s Got Latent,’ hosted by comedian Samay Raina. Murad described Allahbadia’s comments as an attempt to gain “fame” and expressed that it had shocked the public.
The controversy erupted after Allahbadia, widely known for his YouTube channel BeerBiceps, made offensive remarks during a recent episode of the show. Murad was quick to condemn the remarks, stating that such behavior for the sake of fame was unbecoming and went against the values upheld by respected comedians like Johny Lever, the late Raju Srivastav, and Kapil Sharma, who never resorted to using offensive language.
Murad continued, “To what extent can one stoop for fame? The whole country is shocked…”. He further criticized the show for tolerating such behavior, adding that it was unacceptable to use abusive language on a public platform. He also expressed concern over the disrespect shown towards parents, emphasizing that society holds them in high regard. Murad condemned the show for defaming individuals and spreading obscenity.
In response to the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging the insensitivity of his comments and admitting that they were neither appropriate nor humorous. Allahbadia clarified that comedy was not his area of expertise and expressed regret for the lapse in judgment, apologizing for offending his audience. He also requested that the producers of ‘India’s Got Latent’ remove the insensitive sections from the episode.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of the remarks and summoned Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and other involved parties for a hearing on February 17 at the NCW office in New Delhi. The commission has condemned the vulgar and offensive remarks, stressing the importance of dignity and respect for all individuals.
Following the controversy, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has called for an immediate ban on the show and legal action against those responsible. The AICWA also urged the Indian film industry to boycott and cease collaboration with those involved.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have taken action following a formal complaint filed against Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others involved in the show. Police have visited Allahbadia’s residence and are investigating the matter further. The controversy has sparked widespread public outrage, with calls for legal action and a ban on the show.
