Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Witherspoon shared her surprise at being selected for a jury in Beverly Hills, seven years after portraying Elle Woods, a Harvard law student turned attorney, in the beloved comedy.
“I did not want to do jury duty,” Witherspoon admitted. “But I remember it was after Legally Blonde. I thought, ‘Surely they’re not going to pick me.’ But they did—for a long trial!”
The case, which revolved around a dog bite, lasted two weeks, with Witherspoon attending court every day. Despite the mundane subject matter, the actress found herself deeply invested in the proceedings.
