June 1, 2025: Singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya kicked off his much-anticipated CapMania concert tour in Mumbai on Saturday, May 31, by turning trolls into fans—one nasal note at a time. Performing before a packed house, Himesh took fans down memory lane to the mid-2000s and directly addressed the longtime debate about his signature nasal singing style.

Midway through his performance, the Aashiq Banaya Aapne hitmaker playfully asked the audience,
“Thoda regular gau yaa naak se?”
The crowd erupted in cheers, loudly demanding his trademark nasal rendition. With a smile, Himesh belted out the iconic lines from Aashiq Banaya Aapne, much to the crowd’s delight.
“It was never nasal for me,” Himesh explained. “It was high-pitched singing—an emotional cry for help. In the song’s video, the character is crying in pain, singing and dancing. That intensity had to come through the voice.”
The concert served as a throwback to Himesh’s golden era, where he ruled charts with back-to-back hits, always dressed in his signature cap and long coat.
Clapping Back at Critics
Himesh also subtly addressed recent pop culture jabs, including actress Janhvi Kapoor’s playful mockery on Koffee With Karan about his viral gym video featuring Tandoori Nights.
“Yes, I know. It’s a good thing! So many years later, the love for Tandoori Nights remains. That word—‘tandoori’—has been very lucky for me,” he quipped.
What’s Next for the Music Icon
After conquering Mumbai, Himesh will bring his CapMania magic to Delhi on July 19. The singer, who also starred in the meme-worthy action flick Badass Ravi Kumar, shows no signs of slowing down.
The 51-year-old recently told Pinkvilla that criticism of his singing style has largely faded:
“Aaj toh nasal ki baat bhi nahi kar rahe hain. Many people did nasal singing after me—and many of my songs became hits.”
From redefining mainstream Bollywood music in the 2000s to owning his uniqueness with confidence, Himesh Reshammiya continues to entertain, evolve, and prove that iconic voices never go out of style.
