Retro Box Office Day 11: Suriya’s Film Crosses ₹90 Cr Globally, Surpasses 2 Big Hits
May 12, 2025: Suriya’s much-anticipated romantic action thriller Retro may not have set the box office on fire as expected, but the film has still achieved a commendable milestone. After wrapping up its second weekend in theatres, Retro has surpassed the ₹90 crore mark at the global box office, emerging as Suriya’s 6th highest-grossing film of all time.

Despite mixed word-of-mouth and a lukewarm response during weekdays, Retro showed some resilience over the second weekend. The film earned an estimated ₹4.48 crore during the weekend, pushing its India net total to ₹57.43 crore in 11 days. Including taxes, the India gross stands at ₹67.76 crore.
Overseas, the film continues to bring in steady figures, collecting around ₹24.15 crore gross. This brings the total worldwide gross to ₹91.91 crore after 11 days of release.
While it hasn’t yet reached the ₹100 crore milestone, Retro has already overtaken the lifetime collections of Singam (₹90 Cr) and Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (₹90.20 Cr) — cementing its place as the 6th highest-grossing Suriya film globally.
Looking ahead, the big question remains whether Retro can cross ₹100 crore worldwide before its theatrical run concludes. With the weekdays now underway, the film must avoid sharp drops to stay on track. While the journey to the century mark looks challenging, it’s not entirely out of reach.
