Rihanna Reacts To A$AP Rocky’s Acquittal: ‘Thankful And Humbled’

February 19, 2025: Rihanna has shared her first statement following the acquittal of her partner, A$AP Rocky, on felony assault charges.

The singer expressed her gratitude and faith, taking to Instagram to write, "The glory belongs to God and God alone. Thankful. Humbled by his mercy." Her heartfelt message came after a Los Angeles jury found A$AP Rocky not guilty of all charges in a highly publicized three-week trial.

The case revolved around accusations that A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, fired a gun at his former friend, A$AP Relli (Terell Ephron), outside a Hollywood hotel in November 2021. Relli claimed that Rocky aimed a firearm at his head and stomach, with shots grazing his hand during a confrontation on Hollywood Boulevard.

However, Rocky’s defense team, led by Joe Tacopina, argued that the injuries were minor and suggested that the rapper used a prop gun to break up the altercation between Ephron and his entourage. Tacopina also accused Ephron of planting evidence, including two 9mm shell casings, in an attempt to extort Rocky.

The trial had immense public attention, especially with the possibility that Rocky could face up to 24 years in prison if convicted. Throughout the legal proceedings, Rihanna stood by Rocky’s side, offering him unwavering support. She was present in the courtroom when the verdict was delivered, visibly relieved by the not guilty ruling.

Rihanna’s statement reflected her relief and appreciation for the positive outcome, recognizing the grace and mercy she felt following the trial's conclusion. Her public message of gratitude also underscored the couple’s strength during such a challenging time, as they move forward with the cloud of legal drama now behind them.
