In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ananth Mahadevan recounted a moment when Rishi Kapoor openly criticized his son Ranbir Kapoor’s choice to act in a particular film. Without naming the movie or the director, Mahadevan recalled visiting Rishi at his residence when the senior actor expressed frustration about Ranbir’s decision. “He was constantly saying that he tried his best to dissuade Ranbir from doing that film. I told him, ‘Don’t do it, this film will not run,’” shared Mahadevan. Despite his warnings, Ranbir went ahead with the project.

Mahadevan further added that Rishi Kapoor didn’t shy away from telling filmmakers directly if he thought their films would fail. “He was like that. You call it honesty; you call it pure delight.
