The trailer, shared on X by streaming platform JioCinema, has already captured the attention of many. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and created by Raj Kumar Gupta, ‘Pill’ also features actor Pavan Malhotra in a significant role.

In ‘Pill,’ Riteish Deshmukh portrays Prakash Chauhan, a character who embarks on an intense journey to uncover the deep-seated corruption within the Indian pharmaceutical industry. The series provides a detailed look at the journey of a pill from its creation to its consumption, featuring a range of characters including powerful pharmaceutical executives, corrupt doctors, medical representatives, compromised drug regulators, politicians, journalists, and whistleblowers.

Throughout the series, tension mounts as Prakash Chauhan confronts the manipulative CEO of a pharmaceutical company, played by Pavan Malhotra. The narrative follows Prakash’s legal battle to expose the powerful nexus prioritizing profits over patients’ well-being.

Discussing his debut series, Riteish Deshmukh shared, “Venturing into the digital streaming world is thrilling. With a compelling story like ‘Pill,’ there’s a huge responsibility to do it justice. The complexities behind something as seemingly simple as a pill are fascinating. Being part of this journey has been enlightening. Working with visionaries like Raj Kumar Gupta and Ronnie Screwvala, who have dedicated themselves to this project, is a true honor. Prakash Chauhan is a character of simplicity and strength, and I believe his fight against corrupt pharma players will resonate with audiences.”

Producer Ronnie Screwvala added, “We’ve worked hard to bring an original and thought-provoking concept like ‘Pill’ that explores untold landscapes and raises crucial questions. With ‘Pill,’ we aim to entertain and increase awareness. Riteish’s exceptional acting makes his digital debut even more exciting. Working with Raj, who has directed this with his thrilling expertise, has been a pleasure. The release on JioCinema ensures the widest audience reach, and we look forward to bringing this powerful series to screens far and wide.”

Raj Kumar Gupta expressed his excitement, “Celluloid has always been my medium of expression, and now, I’m excited to experiment with the long format on OTT. ‘Pill’ needed to be told in a longer format, and collaborating with JioCinema to tell this story has been great. Working with Riteish, Ronnie, and the entire team has been an incredible experience. We look forward to sharing this story with audiences.”

‘Pill’ is set to premiere on JioCinema on July 12.
