Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Raja Shivaji’ To Release On May 1, 2026 In Multiple Languages

May 21, 2025: The much-anticipated historical epic ‘Raja Shivaji’, starring Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, and Abhishek Bachchan, is set to hit theatres on May 1, 2026. The film will release in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, marking a pan-India celebration of one of India’s greatest warriors.

Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, the film also features Genelia Deshmukh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Fardeen Khan, and Bhagyashree in key roles. ‘Raja Shivaji’ is currently under production across Mumbai and Wai in Maharashtra.

Acclaimed music duo Ajay-Atul will compose the soundtrack, while legendary cinematographer Santosh Sivan will bring the visual grandeur to life.

Speaking about the film, Riteish said,

“Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a historical figure — he is an emotion that lives in the hearts of millions. Telling a part of his extraordinary story is both an honour and a great responsibility. Releasing the film on Maharashtra Day feels especially meaningful.”

Jyoti Deshpande, President of Jio Studios, called the film “a celebration of Swarajya,” and praised Riteish and Genelia for bringing the story to life with passion and purpose.

Genelia Deshmukh described ‘Raja Shivaji’ as “a heartfelt tribute” and added,

“This film has been a labour of love — a journey shaped by years of thought, research, and reverence.”

The makers also unveiled the first motion poster of the film on Wednesday, giving fans a glimpse of the epic journey ahead.
