Robert De Niro Reacts to Anupam Kher’s ‘Tanvi The Great’ Poster at Cannes 2025

May 16, 2025: Veteran actor Anupam Kher had a heartfelt reunion with Hollywood legend Robert De Niro at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where Kher’s directorial venture Tanvi: The Great is set to have its world premiere.

The emotional meeting between the two friends added another memorable moment to the prestigious festival, especially as De Niro was honoured with the Palme d’Or for Lifetime Achievement.

Kher shared a touching video of their interaction on social media, capturing their hug and cheerful exchange. In a note accompanying the clip, Kher expressed his gratitude and admiration for De Niro, calling their friendship “a blessing.”

“It was the most amazing feeling to meet my friend Robert De Niro, his graceful wife Tiffany and their beautiful daughter Jia in Cannes!” Kher wrote. “Told him about the world premiere of Tanvi: The Great. Showed him the first poster of our film. He LOVED it.”

The duo also shared a meal together, with Kher thanking De Niro and his wife for their warmth, hospitality, and encouragement. “Thank you for the love, warmth, the delicious lunch, and your infectious brilliance over the years,” Kher added. “Having you as a friend is the biggest blessing I could have ever asked for!”

A day prior, Kher also congratulated De Niro for his Palme d’Or win on social media, calling him the “Godfather of Acting.”

Meanwhile, anticipation is mounting for the release of the official poster of Tanvi: The Great, slated to drop on May 17. The film stars an ensemble cast including Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, and Arvind Swami, with Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen making his Bollywood debut.

The release date of Tanvi: The Great is yet to be announced.
