Robert De Niro To Be Seen In Dual Role In ‘The Alto Knights’ Trailer

January 15, 2025: Warner Bros. has unveiled the highly anticipated trailer for The Alto Knights, a gripping mob drama directed by Barry Levinson and starring Robert De Niro in a dual role. The first-look trailer, shared across Warner Bros.’ official social media platforms, has generated significant buzz among fans of the genre.

Previously titled Wise Guys, the film explores the intense power struggle between two infamous Italian-American crime bosses in mid-20th century New York. The story is centered around Vito Genovese (played by De Niro) and Frank Costello (also De Niro), two legendary figures in organized crime who ran separate crime families. Set against the backdrop of a pivotal moment in mob history, the film delves into the 1957 assassination attempt on Costello orchestrated by Genovese, an attack that ultimately forced Costello’s exit from the criminal world after surviving the attempt.

The Alto Knights is written by Nicholas Pileggi, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter behind Goodfellas, making this project all the more enticing for fans of mob dramas. De Niro reunites with director Barry Levinson, with whom he collaborated on the Emmy-nominated The Wizard of Lies, along with other notable films like Wag the Dog and Sleepers.

The star-studded cast includes Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, and Kathrine Narducci. The film is produced by Oscar-winning producer Irwin Winkler, alongside Levinson and others. Mike Drake serves as the executive producer.
