Robert De Niro Walks Hand-in-Hand with Girlfriend Tiffany Chen at Cannes Festival

May 14, 2025: Hollywood legend Robert De Niro made a memorable appearance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, accompanied by his partner Tiffany Chen. The couple turned heads on the red carpet at the opening ceremony and the screening of Partir Un Jour (Leave One Day), walking hand-in-hand in coordinated black ensembles that captured the attention of fans and photographers alike.

The GoodFellas actor, 80, looked timeless in a classic black tuxedo paired with a navy blue tie, while Tiffany Chen stunned in a sequined black gown featuring a floral embroidered skirt. She accessorized with silver jewellery and a sleek bun, keeping her look both elegant and understated. The couple’s strong chemistry and stylish presence marked a rare but welcome joint public appearance.

Earlier in the day, De Niro and Chen had attended a photocall, where they opted for more casual attire. De Niro sported a collared polo shirt layered with a blazer, while Chen chose a strapless dress with a cream cardigan and flats. The couple last walked the Cannes carpet together in 2023, shortly after welcoming their daughter, Gia. The pair met on the set of The Intern (2015) and have been public with their relationship since their first vacation sightings in France.

Beyond his red carpet appearance, De Niro was honored with the Palme d’Or for Lifetime Achievement, presented to him by close friend and Killers of the Flower Moon co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. During his acceptance speech, De Niro didn’t shy away from making a powerful statement, reflecting on the role of art in democracy.

“Art looks for truth. Art embraces diversity. That’s why art is a threat. That’s why we are a threat to autocrats and fascists,” De Niro said, in what many interpreted as a direct critique of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The two-time Oscar winner has long been a vocal figure in both cinema and political discourse. His presence at Cannes is no surprise, having attended frequently and even served as jury president in 2011.
