Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is reportedly set to take a bold creative turn with Golmaal 5, as the upcoming instalment of the popular comedy franchise may not feature a conventional female lead or romantic storyline.
No Love Interest This Time
According to reports, Golmaal 5 will move away from its usual formula of pairing a female lead opposite Ajay Devgn. While actress Priyamani is part of the film, her role is not expected to include any romantic angle with the lead characters.

This marks a significant shift from previous films in the franchise, which traditionally incorporated a central love story alongside comedy.
Breaking Franchise Tradition
Earlier instalments of the Golmaal series featured prominent female leads:
- Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006) starred Rimi Sen
- Golmaal Returns (2008) and Golmaal 3 featured Kareena Kapoor Khan
- Golmaal Again (2017) starred Parineeti Chopra
By eliminating the romantic subplot, Shetty appears to be focusing entirely on humour, ensemble dynamics, and chaotic storytelling—hallmarks of the franchise.
Star-Studded Cast & New Additions
The film will see the return of familiar faces including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor, and Sharman Joshi. Adding to the excitement, Akshay Kumar is joining the franchise for the first time, promising a fresh comedic twist.
What to Expect
With no traditional love angle, Golmaal 5 is expected to double down on its signature slapstick humour and ensemble chaos. The decision could redefine the franchise’s narrative style and offer audiences a different cinematic experience.
