Rohit Shetty Breaks Silence on Rift With Shah Rukh Khan After Dilwale: This is What He Said

Rohit Shetty clarifies his equation with Shah Rukh Khan post-Dilwale, addresses why they haven’t worked together since, and shares insights into their career paths and production choices.

Mumbai, April 22 – Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has finally addressed the long-standing speculation about a fallout with Shah Rukh Khan after their 2015 collaboration Dilwale. In a candid chat with Komal Nahta on his Game Changers podcast, Shetty denied any rift and said that the duo continues to share mutual respect.

Nahi aisa kuch nahi. There’s nothing like that,” Rohit stated when asked about the alleged tension following the film’s underwhelming domestic performance.

He added that the shift away from collaborating with Shah Rukh was more about business decisions than personal issues.

“After Dilwale, we started our own production house and decided to make our own films. That way, if there’s a loss, it’s ours – though Dilwale was not a loss-making film. In fact, it did very well overseas.”

Released on December 19, 2015, Dilwale clashed with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. While the latter won the critical race in India, Dilwale found massive success in international markets.

🤝 Shetty on Industry Bonds

Rohit Shetty also opened up about his closest relationships in the film industry, describing Ajay Devgn as his “elder brother” and highlighting his creative synergy with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

He revealed that Deepika, who appears in Singham Again, shot her final scenes while four months pregnant — a gesture that earned his immense admiration.

Rohit Shetty recently scored a box office win with Singham Again, the latest addition to his Cop Universe, which includes hits like Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is set to return to screens with King, directed by Siddharth Anand, where he stars alongside his daughter Suhana Khan in her big-screen debut. The cast also includes Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma.
