The Die Another Day star Rosamund reveals she was asked to undress during her Bond audition and shares a humorous behind-the-scenes moment from filming with Brosnan.
Rosamund Pike is opening up about the uncomfortable realities of her audition for the 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day — and a comical misunderstanding during filming with Pierce Brosnan.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, the actress recalled an unsettling moment when she was asked to undress during the casting process for her role as Miranda Frost.
“In the Bond audition, I was asked to unzip and drop the dress I was wearing, to just stand there in underwear,” Pike said. “And I thought, ‘Well, no, I’ll be doing that if I get the part. I won’t be doing that now.’ I don’t know what possessed me.”
Despite refusing the request, Pike landed the role of Frost, a deceptive MI6 agent who is eventually revealed to be working against Bond. She starred alongside Pierce Brosnan’s 007 and Halle Berry’s Jinx Johnson, with the character meeting her end in a dramatic sword-fighting finale.
In a separate chat on David Tennant Does a Podcast with, Pike recounted an amusing yet awkward moment from filming an intimate scene with Brosnan.
“We have this clinch, and then we separate, and I look at this body tape and the nipple covers and they’re covered in hair,” she shared. “And I think, ‘Oh my God, I’m waxing Pierce’s chest.’”
To her relief, the culprit wasn’t Brosnan’s body hair — but rather the faux fur from the set. “It took a couple of takes to realize it was not him. It was the fake fur of the rugs adorning the swan bed,” she said with a laugh. “I literally thought I was waxing the poor man’s chest.”
Pike’s revelations offer a mix of insight into the challenges of Hollywood auditions and the humorous missteps that often come with life on set — even in the world of suave spies and glamorous Bond girls.
