December 8, 2024: In the wake of his divorce from Saira Banu, rumours circulated that music maestro AR Rahman was planning to take a year-long break from the industry. However, his son, AR Ameen, has set the record straight, dismissing the claims as baseless.
Ameen took to Instagram, sharing a screenshot of the news report and labeling it “Fake news.” He added, “This is false,” putting an end to speculation about Rahman’s alleged sabbatical.
The news follows Rahman’s announcement of his separation from Saira Banu, which left fans stunned. The couple, married since March 12, 1995, share three children—son AR Ameen and daughters Khatija and Raheema Rahman. Reacting to the divorce, the siblings requested privacy during this challenging time.
Khatija and Raheema shared similar messages on their Instagram Stories, urging everyone to respect their family’s privacy. Ameen also echoed the sentiment, writing, “We kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this time. Thank you for your understanding.”
Hours later, AR Rahman himself took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a heartfelt message, saying, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”
As per lawyer Vandana Shah, the custody arrangements for their children have not yet been finalized. However, their adult children are free to decide their living arrangements.
