The project, which was first announced in 2022, is being produced by Reynolds’ Maximum Effort production company in collaboration with actor and filmmaker Colin Hanks.
In a recent update reported by Deadline, Reynolds reflected on Candy’s profound impact, calling him a “beautiful man” and a “beautiful storyteller.” He emphasized Candy’s humility and character, stating, “He was so generous with people, and he was a good person when no one was watching. And I think that’s really important.”

Jennifer expressed her enthusiasm in a post, writing, “Boom! So looking forward to working on this with them and our family. This project is in great hands.”
Reynolds has long been a fan of John Candy’s work. On the 25th anniversary of Candy’s passing, he shared a tribute video featuring the actor’s most memorable moments and encouraged fans to revisit his classic performances, saying, “He was a treasure.”
