Saif Ali Khan Attack Case: Shariful Islam Shehzad Seeks Bail, Denies Allegations

March 29, 2025: Shariful Islam Shehzad, the man accused of attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan during an alleged theft attempt at his Bandra residence in January, has filed a bail plea in the Mumbai Sessions Court. The plea, submitted through his lawyer, Ajay Gawali, asserts that Shehzad is innocent and that the case against him is fabricated.

In the bail application, Shehzad contends that the First Information Report (FIR) against him was lodged improperly and that there is no solid basis for the allegations. The plea further claims that Shehzad has fully cooperated with the police investigation and that all evidence has already been submitted to the authorities, making any tampering impossible.

Currently, the case is being heard in the Bandra Magistrate Court, but it will be transferred to the Sessions Court once the police file the chargesheet. As of now, the chargesheet has not been submitted by the Bandra Police.

The incident in question occurred on January 16, when Shehzad allegedly broke into Saif Ali Khan’s home with the intent to commit theft. During the break-in, the actor was attacked and sustained severe injuries to his thoracic spine and other parts of his body. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he received treatment for five days before being discharged on January 21.

In February, the Mumbai Police asserted that they had ample evidence to support the accusations against Shehzad. They also revealed that Shehzad had entered India from Bangladesh and stayed in various locations in Kolkata before arriving in Mumbai.

Additional Commissioner of Police Paramjit Singh Dahiya refuted rumors surrounding the case, particularly those claiming that the accused’s fingerprints did not match. Dahiya confirmed, “Whenever an accusation is made, multiple pieces of evidence are collected against it. We have found much oral, physical, and technical evidence against the accused… We have caught the right person.”

The case continues to unfold, with Shehzad’s bail plea now in the hands of the Sessions Court. As the legal process moves forward, the public and media are closely following the developments in this high-profile case.
