Actor Undergoes Emergency Surgery After Attack; Investigators Focus on Accomplices and Evidence

January 25, 2025: Mumbai Police suspect more individuals may be involved in the brutal stabbing of actor Saif Ali Khan, a senior official disclosed on Saturday. This revelation comes after the arrest of Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, also known as Vijay Das, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national accused of carrying out the attack.

The chilling incident took place on January 16 at Khan’s Bandra residence. According to authorities, the accused barged into the premises, demanding Rs 1 crore, and attacked a nanny before stabbing the actor multiple times. Khan, 54, was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and is now recovering.

Police have stated in their remand application that they suspect additional suspects may have conspired with Shariful. His custody has been extended until January 29. Investigators claim that Shariful has been uncooperative, withholding critical information such as the origin of the weapon used in the attack.

To strengthen their case, police have sent blood samples and clothing from Saif Ali Khan, his staff, and the accused to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Authorities aim to confirm whether the bloodstains on Shariful’s clothing match Khan’s. Additionally, fingerprints collected from Khan’s apartment have been verified to match those of the accused.

On Friday, Khan provided his detailed account of the harrowing attack, aiding the investigation. Police continue to scrutinize evidence while working to identify potential accomplices who may have facilitated the crime.
