January 18, 2025: A suspect in connection with the stabbing attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been detained in Durg, Chhattisgarh, according to the police. The individual, identified as Aakash Kanojia, was apprehended while traveling aboard the Jnaneswari Express train. The information about his whereabouts was provided by the Assistant Police Inspector at Juhu Police Station in Mumbai, who had been investigating the attack.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday at Saif Ali Khan’s Mumbai residence, where the actor was stabbed multiple times during an altercation with an intruder. The intruder had confronted the actor’s maid, and when Saif intervened, he was attacked. The actor sustained significant injuries, including wounds to his thoracic spine, and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent successful surgery to remove a 2.5-inch-long blade.
Saif is now reportedly out of danger and has been moved from the ICU to a regular room. His medical condition is being closely monitored by hospital staff.
The police have launched an extensive investigation, forming 20 teams to locate the assailant. They are analyzing CCTV footage and questioning over 30 individuals, including Saif’s staff and people who were in the vicinity of his residence during the attack. Saif’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, also recorded her statement with the Bandra Police on Friday.
Mumbai Police officials are expected to travel to Raipur today to take custody of the suspect, Kanojia, for further questioning.
