Salim Khan Health Update: Arbaaz Khan Says Veteran Writer Will Be Discharged ‘Soon’
Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, is recovering well and is likely to be discharged from the hospital soon. The update was shared by actor Arbaaz Khan during a recent public appearance.
Salim Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on February 17, 2026, after suffering a brain haemorrhage. The 90-year-old writer underwent surgery shortly after being hospitalised and has been under medical supervision since then.
Speaking to reporters at an iftar gathering on Wednesday, Arbaaz Khan shared a brief update on his father’s health. “He’s better now, he’s improving,” Arbaaz said, adding that Salim Khan is expected to be discharged “soon.”
Last month, doctors at Lilavati Hospital confirmed that a minor medical procedure had been successfully performed by a neurosurgeon. According to the hospital, the procedure was completed without complications and the veteran writer was shifted to the ICU for observation. Medical officials had earlier stated that he was stable and responding well to treatment, although his advanced age remained a factor in the recovery process.
While the Khan family has not issued an official detailed statement about his condition, several celebrities from the film industry have expressed concern and shared updates about the veteran writer’s health.
Among those who have spoken about his recovery are actor Aamir Khan, actress Daisy Shah, and veteran lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar. Fans and members of the film fraternity have been wishing Salim Khan a speedy recovery.
Salim Khan is widely regarded as one of Bollywood’s most influential writers and is best known for his iconic partnership with Javed Akhtar, forming the legendary screenwriting duo “Salim-Javed,” responsible for several blockbuster films in Hindi cinema.
