Salman Khan Faces Backlash for Deleted Tweet on India-Pakistan Ceasefire Amid Operation Sindoor

Superstar Salman Khan recently found himself in the midst of a social media storm after posting a tweet expressing relief over the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

His tweet, which read “Thank God for the ceasefire…” was posted shortly after both countries reached an understanding to halt hostilities. This agreement followed India’s Operation Sindoor, a military response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of several people.

Salman’s tweet, however, triggered immediate backlash from many social media users. Critics slammed the actor for posting about the ceasefire while seemingly staying silent on the terror attack, the Indian Army’s response, and the broader national sentiment. Many users accused Salman Khan of being more concerned with advocating peace than acknowledging the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers or the victims of the Pahalgam attack.

The situation escalated quickly, with a flood of comments calling out the actor for appearing to prioritize Pakistan’s welfare over India’s pain. In response to the growing uproar, Salman Khan deleted the tweet, but by then, screenshots had already gone viral across social media platforms. As of now, Salman has not issued an official statement or posted any new tweets regarding the matter.

One tweet read, “Salman Khan deleted his tweet, made no posts about Pahalgam, while Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan also stayed silent during the terrorist attack on India.” Another social media user suggested, “India should boycott Salman Khan.”

The timing of the ceasefire came after days of intense military operations, including artillery, drone, and missile strikes between the two nations. India targeted terror camps in Pakistan as part of Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan, in turn, launched brazen attacks on Indian civilians. The ceasefire agreement was eventually reached after India struck Pakistani airbases in decisive final moves that severely damaged Pakistan’s Air Force assets. The agreement was made following a call between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both nations.

Salman’s tweet, which was initially seen as an attempt to advocate for peace, ended up becoming a flashpoint for a larger debate about national sentiment, the role of celebrities in political discourse, and how India’s stars react to critical moments in the country’s history.
