Salman Khan’s ‘Sikandar’ Targets Biggest Bollywood Release Ever With Record 5,500 Screens
Mumbai, March 29 – Bollywood megastar Salman Khan returns to the big screen with ‘Sikandar’, a high-octane action drama co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, releasing this Sunday, March 30, just a day ahead of Eid. Directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is already making headlines for its scale and box office potential.
According to early trade reports, Sikandar is poised to become the biggest Bollywood release in Indian cinema history, hitting 5,500+ screens nationwide with a massive 22,000+ shows scheduled for opening day—the highest ever for a Hindi film.
As of 8 PM on March 29, the movie had already sold around 3 lakh tickets, generating ₹9 crore gross through advance bookings (excluding block seats). Though slightly behind the year’s current advance booking leader Chhaava, Sikandar is picking up pace rapidly, especially given the Sunday release advantage.

Unlike traditional Friday launches, the Sunday release aligned with Eid on Monday is expected to boost spot bookings significantly, potentially pushing the opening day collections beyond ₹30 crore net. This would surpass Chhaava’s ₹31 crore Friday opening and mark one of the biggest Day 1 box office performances of 2025.
While a Friday release might have given the film a more conventional weekend buildup, the festival factor and Salman’s massive fan base are expected to deliver a bumper opening. If the film receives a strong response from audiences and critics alike, Sikandar is well on track to become one of the top-grossing Bollywood films of the year.
Stay tuned for box office updates as the festive fireworks begin with Sikandar lighting up cinemas nationwide.
