Samantha Ruth Prabhu Opens Up About Divorce, Online Trolling, and Finding Inner Peace

November 26, 2024: “Absolute Lies Were Spread, But I Chose Silence,” Says Samantha on Divorce with Naga Chaitanya

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has broken her silence about the intense scrutiny and online trolling she faced after her divorce from actor Naga Chaitanya in 2021. Known for her stellar performances across various projects, Samantha reflected on navigating societal judgments and prioritising her mental peace amidst the challenges.

Samantha on Dealing with Patriarchy and Rumours

Speaking to Galatta India, Samantha highlighted the patriarchal pressures women often face, especially after a relationship ends.

“Unfortunately, we live in a society which is so patriarchal in nature. Anytime something goes wrong, a woman gets subjected to a lot more judgment and shaming—not just online, but even in real life,” she shared.

She recounted the countless untrue stories spread about her during the divorce, adding that while she often felt tempted to address the lies, she ultimately chose to remain silent.

“Many things were said about me that were absolutely untrue. There were times I wanted to come out and say, ‘This is not true.’ But I thought, ‘What good will it do?’”

Choosing Silence Over Validation

Samantha revealed her struggle with the desire for public validation but eventually found solace in the truth known by her loved ones.

“Can you not live with the fact that your friends and your family know the truth? It’s okay if people believe things that are untrue about you,” she said, emphasizing the fleeting nature of public opinion.

She shared that this introspection allowed her to grow emotionally and prioritize self-acceptance over external approval.

“All my life, I wanted to be loved and validated. But now, I’ve realized it’s okay if people don’t believe or appreciate you. I still haven’t said anything, and whoever believes whatever, it’s up to them,” she concluded.

Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala’s New Chapter

Meanwhile, Naga Chaitanya has moved on and is set to tie the knot with actress Sobhita Dhulipala on December 4 at Annapurna Studios. The couple, who had been dating for two years, got engaged in August this year. They often sparked speculation during their vacations but made their relationship official following the engagement.

A Lesson in Resilience

Samantha’s candid reflections on overcoming societal judgment, handling rumors with grace, and finding peace in personal truth are a powerful reminder of resilience in the face of adversity.
