Samay Raina Bounces Back with Global Comedy Tour Amid ‘India’s Got Latent’ Controversy
May 13, 2025: Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has announced his highly anticipated international comedy tour, marking his return to the global stage following the controversy surrounding his YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
In an Instagram post, Raina revealed the tour dates and cities, with performances lined up across Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The tour kicks off on June 5 in Cologne, Germany, and concludes on July 20 in Sydney, Australia.
The announcement follows intense public scrutiny and legal challenges linked to the show India’s Got Latent, particularly after an episode featuring podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia sparked backlash over controversial comments about a contestant’s parents. The clip went viral, drawing criticism for insensitivity and lack of comedic merit. Allahbadia later issued a public apology.
Adding to the controversy, the Guwahati Crime Branch lodged a case against Raina for allegedly promoting obscene and vulgar content via the show. Additionally, the Supreme Court of India issued summons to Raina and four others over alleged offensive remarks about persons with disabilities, ordering them to appear in person.
Despite the turmoil, Raina appears set on re-establishing his comedic career on the international circuit. He accompanied the tour announcement with a video montage from his performance in Toronto, giving fans a taste of what to expect on the road.
