Samay Raina: “Parents Have Failed” If Young Children Are Watching My Content
June 1, 2025: Comedian Samay Raina has found himself at the centre of another debate after a resurfaced podcast from January 2025. In the podcast, Raina asserted that “parents have failed” if young children are watching his shows, sparking fresh conversations around the responsibilities of internet personalities and parents.
Raina’s comments come months after he faced significant backlash over an episode of his YouTube show India’s Got Latent, which featured an inappropriate question posed by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia to a contestant. The controversy led Raina to take down all episodes of the show from his channel and promise cooperation with the authorities investigating the matter.
In the newly surfaced podcast, Raina was in conversation with Food Pharmer (Revant Himatsingka). When asked whether he believes public figures like himself should be cautious about what they promote, especially to impressionable children, Raina responded:
“If someone as young as eight or ten years old is watching me, then their parents have failed.”
He elaborated that during his own childhood, his father would ensure strict discipline around television consumption:

“When I was that age, my father would beat me if I watched television. I never got influenced by all this, and I really think he did a great job as a father. So, parents are the ones who need to be responsible and not me.”
Raina emphasized that he sees his role as being honest about who he is rather than crafting an idealized persona:
“There are too many fake people in this world. Public gets depressed when they see someone so perfect, doing and saying all the right things. It attacks your confidence. Then comes a guy like me, just being myself, drinking Coke, saying wrong things. They be like, ‘You know what? It’s okay to be me, because this is who I relate to.’”
Despite the backlash from the India’s Got Latent controversy, Raina appears to be moving on. He has announced plans for new shows overseas, indicating that he is focused on creating fresh content while remaining unapologetic about his authenticity.
