Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahabadia Appear Before Maharashtra Cyber Cell In 'India’s Got Latent' Controversy"
April 15, 2025: Comedian Samay Raina and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell in Mumbai on Tuesday to record their statements in connection with a case involving alleged promotion of obscenity and vulgar content on the controversial YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
The duo is among several internet personalities under investigation after a complaint was filed regarding inappropriate content featured in a recent episode of the show. The case, which has now garnered national attention, is also being investigated by the Guwahati Crime Branch, where Raina earlier recorded his statement last week.
Joint Police Commissioner of Guwahati, Ankur Jain, confirmed that the police had questioned Samay Raina as part of their ongoing investigation. “We recorded his statement and are examining all aspects of the content in question,” Jain told ANI.
Other content creators including YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, influencer Apoorva Makhija, and Ranveer Allahbadia have also previously appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch for questioning.
The controversy erupted following a segment in India’s Got Latent where Ranveer Allahbadia made a controversial remark about a contestant and their parents, sparking widespread backlash on social media. The clip quickly went viral, with many accusing the creators of crossing a line under the guise of humor.
In response to the criticism, Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging the lack of judgment in his remarks.
“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry,” he stated in a video message.
He also addressed concerns regarding his influence on young viewers and vowed to use his platform more responsibly going forward.
“Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect,” he added.
As of now, no arrests have been made, but the investigation remains active across multiple jurisdictions. The incident has reignited conversations around content regulation on digital platforms, especially when public figures wield substantial influence over youth audiences.
