Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Bhootnii’ Postponed to May 1; Makers Promise “Top-Notch” VFX Experience

The horror-action-comedy starring Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, and Palak Tiwari gets a new release date as the team fine-tunes its visual effects; teaser hints at supernatural romance and sword-swinging action

Mumbai, April 14:
Sanjay Dutt‘s much-awaited horror-action-comedy Bhootnii has a new release date. The film, initially scheduled to hit theatres on April 18, will now arrive on the big screen May 1, the makers confirmed on Monday.

According to a press note, the delay was necessary due to extensive post-production work, particularly involving high-end visual effects.

“As the film involves extensive VFX work that shall be par excellence, the makers remain committed to delivering a top-notch cinematic experience for audiences,” read the official statement.

A Genre-Bending Ride with Romance, Horror, and Action

Directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, Bhootnii promises to blend supernatural thrills with romance, humor, and high-octane action. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, Palak Tiwari, Sunny Singh, and Aasif Khan in key roles.

In the teaser, Sanjay Dutt appears in a fierce action avatar, wielding twin swords as he battles evil spirits. The scene is set up with his voiceover narrating a few lines from the Bhagavad Gita, adding philosophical weight to the otherwise comic-horror tone.

Another subplot hints at romance, as Sunny Singh’s character is seen pleading with a spirit to return his lost love, adding emotional depth to the horror narrative.

The film is presented by Zee Studios, Soham Rockstar Entertainment, and Three Dimension Motion Pictures, and produced by Deepak Mukut and Sanjay Dutt, with Hunar Mukut and Maanayata Dutt as co-producers.

Dutt’s Dark Turn in Baaghi 4

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt also grabbed headlines for his intense first look in Baaghi 4. Directed by Kannada filmmaker A Harsha (marking his Bollywood debut), the poster features Dutt in a chilling visual — seated on a gothic throne with a lifeless woman in his arms and the tagline: “Every Aashiq is a Villain.”

The film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, is slated to release on September 5, 2025, and promises to bring a darker twist to the Baaghi franchise.

With Bhootnii’s theatrical release just weeks away and Baaghi 4 already creating a stir, 2025 is shaping up to be a major year for Sanjay Dutt’s fans.
