March 31, 2025: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Monday made shocking claims about Maharashtra state cabinet ministers allegedly threatening stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra over his controversial remarks about Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde. According to Raut, the ministers are demanding that Kamra be “shot and hanged immediately” for his comments, raising serious concerns over the state of law and order in Maharashtra.
Raut, in a press conference, condemned the apparent threats, accusing the ministers of lawlessness and criticizing Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis for his silence in the matter. He expressed grave concern over the security of Kamra, emphasizing that such threats should not be tolerated.
The controversy surrounding Kamra escalated when three new cases were filed against him at the Khar police station for allegedly making disrespectful remarks about Shinde. Raut responded by demanding that the Maharashtra government provide Kamra with special protection, similar to the security granted to Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut when she had a public dispute with Shiv Sena.

The new complaints against Kamra include allegations filed by the Mayor of Jalgaon, a hotelier, and a businessman from Nashik. On March 27, the Mumbai police issued a summons asking Kamra to appear at the Khar police station by March 31. However, this was the third summons Kamra had received in the case filed by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, and Kamra had failed to attend the first two summons.
In response to the ongoing legal action, Kunal Kamra approached the Madras High Court, seeking transit anticipatory bail due to multiple FIRs lodged against him. The court granted him interim anticipatory bail until April 7, with conditions, acknowledging the threats Kamra had been receiving following his remarks.
Raut’s comments and the subsequent legal and security concerns have amplified the ongoing tensions surrounding Kamra’s satirical comments, as both political and legal battles unfold around the comedian.
