Sanoj Mishra, Director Who Gave Monalisa Film Role, Arrested On Rape Charges
March 31, 2025: Sanoj Mishra, the director known for offering viral sensation Monalisa a role in his film during the Kumbh Mela, has been arrested following serious allegations of rape. The arrest took place on March 30, 2024, in Ghaziabad, after the Delhi High Court rejected his bail application.
Mishra, 45, was apprehended by the Delhi Police after intelligence gathering and technical surveillance. He was taken into custody by the Nabi Karim Police Station. The case stems from a complaint made by a 28-year-old woman, who alleged that Mishra repeatedly raped her over a period of four years.
The woman, an aspiring actress from a small town, claimed that she had been in a live-in relationship with Mishra in Mumbai during this time. She further accused him of forcing her to undergo abortion procedures on three occasions and reneging on his promise to marry her.
The police filed an FIR on March 6, 2024, under multiple sections, including rape, assault, causing miscarriage, and threats. The complainant also provided her statement under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to support her allegations. Medical evidence related to the alleged abortions was gathered from Muzaffarnagar.
The incident that triggered the complaint occurred on February 18, 2025, when Mishra allegedly brought the victim to Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim, where the accused reportedly abandoned her after having physical relations. Following this, the woman filed the police complaint, which eventually led to Mishra’s arrest.
Mishra’s bail application was denied by the Delhi High Court, and he will remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
