Sara Ali Khan on Trolling, Mental Filters, and Embracing Her “Mini-Drama” Moments

In a recent interview, Sara Ali Khan discusses how she handles public scrutiny and online trolling, revealing her strategy for building a mental filter and allowing herself to have emotionally vulnerable days.

Actor Sara Ali Khan recently opened up about navigating life under the constant scrutiny of the spotlight, sharing her strategies for dealing with both constructive criticism and relentless online trolling.

The daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, who debuted in 2018 with Kedarnath, admits that facing constant opinions and criticism is far from easy, but she has learned to take it in stride.

Building a Mental Filter Against Trolling

When asked how she separates helpful feedback from destructive noise, the actor explained that she has developed a kind of “mental filter” over time.

  • Value in Constructive Criticism: Sara stresses that she genuinely values and welcomes constructive criticism about her work, as it helps her “grow, learn, and improve.”
  • Blocking Out the Negative: However, when the criticism “gets personal,” or the intention feels aimed at tearing her down rather than lifting her up, she consciously tries not to let it affect her.
  • Focusing on Core Values: She reminds herself that not everyone knows her, and what matters most is “staying connected to who I am, my values, my intentions, and the people who know me off-screen.”

Embracing Off Days and “Mini-Drama”

Known for her high-energy and positive public persona, Sara Ali Khan insists there’s no pressure to constantly appear cheerful. She believes it’s important to acknowledge and embrace all human emotions, including the challenging ones.

“I am at most times, high energy, but trust me, I have my off days too! We are all human, but I’ve learned it’s totally okay to feel anxious and sad,” she said.

Her personal strategy for handling these difficult moments is quite relatable:

  1. She allows herself to have a “mini drama moment.”
  2. She vents to her diary or friends.
  3. She binges a comfort show.
  4. She then “gets back to sparkling.”

Sara asserted that bottling up emotions makes life less fun and ultimately makes the happy moments feel even sweeter. At the end of the day, she emphasizes that being proud of her work and growing along the way is what truly matters, always returning to her work, family, and routine to stay “real and rooted.”

Sara Ali Khan was recently seen in projects like Sky Force and Metro… In Dino.
