Sara Arjun Shrugs Off Age-Gap Buzz
Dhurandhar actor says social media chatter didn’t affect her
January 21, 2026: Actor Sara Arjun has finally addressed the online debate around the nearly 20-year age gap between her and co-star Ranveer Singh in Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar. The discussion erupted after the film’s first-look teaser, but Sara says the criticism barely reached her as she remains largely inactive on social media. In an interview with NDTV, she said she believes in “live and let live” and was confident the story justified her role.
Explaining her detachment from the controversy, Sara said she consciously stays away from negativity online and prefers not to engage with social media discourse. She credited her upbringing at a boarding school, where access to devices was limited, for her healthy distance from digital platforms. Instead of scrolling online, she said she chooses travel and experiences to unwind in her free time.
In Dhurandhar, Sara plays Yalina Jamali, whose on-screen relationship with Ranveer Singh’s character sparked debate due to the storyline. Despite the chatter, the film emerged as a massive critical and commercial success. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar became the biggest Indian film of 2025, earning a worldwide gross of ₹1283.5 crore by Day 45, reaffirming that the controversy did little to dent its impact.
