‘Saunkan Saunkanay 2’ Announced: Sargun Mehta, Ammy Virk, Nimrat Khaira Return with Double the Drama and Laughter
Chandigarh, April 1: The hit Punjabi trio Sargun Mehta, Ammy Virk, and Nimrat Khaira are back to tickle your funny bone in the eagerly awaited ‘Saunkan Saunkanay 2’. The sequel to the 2022 blockbuster will hit theatres on May 30, 2025, with director Smeep Kang returning to helm the madness and Amberdeep Singh penning the screenplay once again.
Backed by Naad Studios and Dreamiyata Entertainment, the film promises to build on the chaotic love triangle and family dynamics that made the original a household favourite. The project is being produced by Jatin Sethi, Ravie Dubey, and Sargun Mehta.
Producer Ravie Dubey shared the film’s official announcement on Instagram, teasing fans with a humorous caption:
“Dreamiyatas Next Jatt de ghar shanti di umeed na karo… #SaunkanSaunkanay2 aa reha hai bahut jaldi. Teaser out soon.”
A promo clip has been shared, and the teaser is expected to drop soon. The sequel, like its predecessor, is expected to blend rib-tickling comedy with heartfelt drama set against the colourful backdrop of Punjabi households.
The shoot began in late 2023, with Dubey earlier sharing a photo of the clapper board with the words “Shukr Shukr Shukr,” celebrating the start of the journey.
The original film, Saunkan Saunkne, followed the lives of Nirmal and Naseeb, a couple trying to conceive for eight years. At her mother-in-law’s behest, Naseeb convinces Nirmal to marry her younger sister, Kirna, setting off a hilarious rivalry between the two wives. The film was widely praised for its performances and comic timing.
With the entire cast returning and a talented crew on board, Saunkan Saunkanay 2 promises to be a laughter-packed summer treat for fans of Punjabi cinema.
