Sean Combs Hit with New $10M Lawsuit Alleging Sexual Battery and Assault as Verdict Nears in Criminal Trial
As the jury deliberates a potential life sentence in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ criminal trial in New York, the embattled hip-hop mogul is now facing a new $10 million lawsuit in California that alleges sexual battery, assault, and a series of horrifying abuses dating back to the late 2000s.
Edmond Laurent, a former model, actor, and exotic dancer known professionally as Islander, filed a 32-page civil complaint late Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing Sean Combs and several unnamed individuals of rape, battery, emotional abuse, and negligence — as well as civil conspiracy and aiding and abetting.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged abuse occurred over multiple encounters at prominent luxury hotels in Los Angeles, including the Intercontinental in Century City, the SLS in Beverly Hills, and the Mondrian in West Hollywood. The complaint claims that Combs, alongside a still-unidentified woman (Jane Doe), drugged Laurent, raped him, exposed him to an STI, and contributed to medical complications that allegedly resulted in stomach cancer.
Laurent, a native of Dominica, claims to have once been a sought-after talent — appearing in music videos with Tupac, Dr. Dre, Britney Spears, Lil’ Kim, and Tamia, and even featuring in an episode of Baywatch. Represented at the time by the Latin Connection talent agency, he also worked as a male entertainer at private events.
His alleged encounters with Combs began during a bachelorette party booking, where he was greeted by a masked man and woman requesting a private dance. He later discovered that the man was Combs. After a series of similar interactions, Laurent claims he was coerced into sexual acts, drugged with GHB, ketamine, and Rohypnol, and assaulted multiple times, resulting in long-term health issues.
“Combs insisted that Plaintiff be on the same ‘frequency’ as they were, demanding that he take at least one shot of alcohol to ‘lighten up,’” the lawsuit says.
In one particularly harrowing encounter, Laurent says he was drugged using baby oil allegedly laced with GHB. During sex with Jane Doe, she punctured his condom with her nails while Combs whispered coercively, reinforcing a “trapped and manipulated” environment. On a later occasion, after accepting a glass of orange juice — which he believed was safe since he doesn’t consume alcohol — Laurent says he passed out and awoke naked, slathered in oil, in extreme pain, with signs of anal assault.
He was later diagnosed with condyloma (anal warts) and eventually developed gastric cancer, which the suit alleges is directly linked to the physical and emotional trauma of the encounters.
Laurent’s complaint does not only target Combs and Jane Doe — it also implicates nine additional unnamed Jane and John Does, described as part of Combs’ inner circle who allegedly facilitated and covered up the abuse. These individuals are accused of managing access, supplying substances, and cleaning rooms of evidence.
The lawsuit also calls out the hotels for ignoring clear signs of criminal activity. It alleges that staff witnessed drug paraphernalia and excessive baby oil but were instructed by management to clean up immediately rather than report the incidents.
“Security logs show multiple noise complaints and reports of physical altercations — but no incident reports were filed with law enforcement,” the suit notes.
Laurent is represented by attorneys Rodney Diggs and Tyrone Blackburn, both of whom are also handling lawsuits from other Combs accusers, including Lil Rodney. Last year, their legal efforts led to a Department of Homeland Security raid on Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami.
“This lawsuit is not just about seeking justice for one man — it is about holding powerful individuals accountable,” Diggs told Variety. “Mr. Laurent suffered in silence for years — his career, body, and spirit irreparably damaged by the trauma he endured. Today, that silence ends.”
The complaint further states:
“Combs leveraged his position of power and authority to manipulate, intimidate, and physically and emotionally harm Plaintiff, engaging in repeated acts of abuse, sexual misconduct, and coercion.”
Meanwhile, Combs remains detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting a jury verdict in a separate federal criminal trial involving sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. The jury has reached consensus on four out of five counts but remains deadlocked on the racketeering charge, prompting the judge to continue deliberations.
If convicted on the most serious charges, Sean Combs could face life in prison. In addition to this new lawsuit, Combs is facing dozens of civil suits filed by both men and women, some dating back to the 1990s.
Laurent’s case adds another chapter to the growing legal and moral reckoning facing one of the most iconic figures in the music industry.
