Selena Gomez Celebrates First SAG Award Win For ‘Only Murders In The Building’

February 25, 2025: Selena Gomez couldn’t contain her excitement after her show, Only Murders in the Building, made history by winning the prestigious award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. This marked the first-ever win for the cast after four seasons, making it a monumental achievement.

In an emotional Instagram post, Selena expressed her gratitude, sharing a heartfelt message to her co-stars, Steve Martin and Martin Short. She acknowledged their invaluable contributions to her portrayal of her character, saying, “After 4 seasons we got our first award as a cast!!! Steve, Marty, you deserve this more than I do. You guys have shaped the character I play on our show.”

Selena didn’t stop there, also extending her thanks to the show’s creators and crew, including John Hoffman, Jess Rosenthal, and Dan Fogelman, for helping make the series such a success. She wrote, “Last night was one I will never ever forget. Thank you @hulu and @sagawards for this unreal moment that I will cherish with my Only Murders family!” alongside a carousel of celebratory photos from the event.

At the ceremony, Selena was caught off guard when the award was announced. Her shocked reaction, exclaiming “What?” as the ensemble win was revealed, prompted laughter from the audience. Looking dazzling in a custom navy Celine dress with bold red lips, Selena made her way to the stage alongside fellow cast members Michael Cyril Creighton, Molly Shannon, and Richard Kind.

While on stage, she brought her signature humor and emotion to the acceptance speech. She joked, “Wait, we never win. This is so weird,” before offering heartfelt thanks to her co-stars, creators, and the entire Only Murders team. She even playfully teased Martin Short, who won the SAG Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, and the absence of Steve Martin, saying, “Well, Marty and Steve aren’t here because, you know, they don’t really care.”

Ending her speech on an exciting note, Selena hinted at what’s to come for the show, saying, “I’m bringing this back to New York for season five. Thank you so much. I’m so grateful. Thank you, SAG-AFTRA. Thank you to everybody. I love you.”

In addition to her success on Only Murders in the Building, Selena Gomez is also gearing up to release new music. She announced her upcoming album, I Said I Love You First, set to drop on March 21. Excitedly sharing behind-the-scenes clips from the album with her fiancé and producer, Blanco, who has collaborated with her on several songs, Selena wrote, “We can’t wait to share this special project with you soon.”

Fans of both Selena’s acting and music are eagerly awaiting what’s next, and with the announcement of a fifth season of Only Murders in the Building, it seems there’s much more to look forward to from the talented star.
