Selena Gomez Finally Opens Up About Her Break-up With Justin Bieber

Years after her highly publicized breakup with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez reveals how she overcame heartbreak and found emotional peace and lasting love with music producer Benny Blanco.

May 2, 2025: Selena Gomez is finally opening up about her emotional recovery following her long, turbulent relationship with pop icon Justin Bieber. Now engaged to music producer Benny Blanco, Gomez says she has not only rediscovered love but also reclaimed her peace and sense of self.

Appearing on the Table Manners podcast hosted by Jessie and Lennie Ware, Gomez, joined by her fiancé, reflected on her nearly five-year journey of solitude and healing after her final split from Bieber in 2018. “I hadn’t liked anybody in a long, long time,” Gomez admitted, adding that casual dating didn’t feel real until Benny came into her life.

“Some kisses are just to have fun, but when there’s emotion involved in one, it’s different,” she said. “I was a little embarrassed because I hadn’t felt this way in such a long time.”

The pop star’s past with Bieber, a relationship that played out under relentless media scrutiny between 2010 and 2018, remained in headlines long after it ended.
