Selena Gomez, a pop singer and actor from Hollywood, is set to play Linda Ronstadt in a movie that is coming out soon. The US news site Variety says that Gomez hinted at the part on Tuesday night by sharing a picture of Ronstadt’s 2013 autobiography “Simple Dreams” on her Instagram story.
The music biopic is currently in pre-production. John Boylan, Ronstadt’s manager, and James Keach, who created the 2019 documentary “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” are among the producers.
We still don’t know who else will be in the movie.
Ronstadt is a legend in country, rock ‘n’ roll, and Latin music. Her records “Heart Like a Wheel” and “Simple Dreams,” released in the 1970s, were both critically and commercially successful and showed how versatile she was. Variety says that she has won 11 Grammys over the course of her work and has been given Lifetime Achievement Awards by both the Recording Academy and the Latin Recording Academy.
The 2019 documentary about Ronstadt was directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. It was about the singer’s nearly 50-year career and her dominance of the country-rock genre. Variety reported that Ronstadt announced her retirement in 2011 and later said she could no longer sing because of her progressive supranuclear palsy, which was first thought to be Parkinson’s.
