Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff Served Notice Over Misleading Pan Masala Ad

A Jaipur consumer commission has summoned the Bollywood stars and the manufacturer of Vimal Pan Masala over alleged misleading advertising, directing them to respond within 30 days.

March 9, 2025: Bollywood megastars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff have been served legal notices by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Jaipur II over their involvement in an allegedly misleading pan masala advertisement.

The notice, also issued to JB Industries chairman Vimal Kumar Agarwal, directs all parties to appear before the commission on March 19 and submit their responses within 30 days. Failure to comply will result in an ex parte decision, according to the notice signed by commission chairman Gyarsilal Meena and member Hemlata Agarwal.

Complaint Details:

Jaipur-based lawyer Yogendra Singh Badiyal filed the complaint, alleging that the Vimal Pan Masala advertisement falsely claims:

“Daane daane mein hai kesar ka dum” (Every grain has the power of saffron).

Badiyal argues that saffron, priced at ₹4 lakh per kg, is not present in the pan masala, which costs only ₹5 per pack. He contends that the misleading tagline is luring consumers into purchasing a harmful product, potentially causing serious health risks like cancer.

Key Allegations:

  • False Advertising: The claim of saffron in the product is misleading.
  • Health Hazard: Consumption of pan masala is linked to severe health issues.
  • Deceptive Marketing: The actors’ endorsement influences the public to buy a harmful product.

Demands by the Complainant:

  1. Immediate ban on the advertisement and product.
  2. A fine on the actors and the manufacturer for misleading consumers.
  3. Legal action for spreading false information and endangering public health.

Legal Implications:

The case raises questions about the responsibility of celebrities in endorsing products that may be harmful to public health. No official statement has been released by Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, or JB Industries as of now.

With growing scrutiny on celebrity endorsements, this case could set a legal precedent regarding brand promotions and consumer protection.
