Shah Rukh Khan in Talks for 'Baazigar' Sequel: A Comeback of Bollywood's Iconic Anti-Hero?
November 13, 2024: Shah Rukh Khan might return to one of his most iconic roles as discussions for a Baazigar sequel are reportedly underway. Released in 1993 and directed by Abbas-Mustan, Baazigar marked a significant shift in Bollywood, showcasing Shah Rukh in an anti-hero role that defied the conventions of the time. The film’s gripping plot and his portrayal of the vengeful Vicky Malhotra earned acclaim, establishing SRK as a versatile actor.
Producer Ratan Jain recently confirmed initial conversations with Shah Rukh about reviving the thriller. While no concrete plans or script exist yet, Jain emphasized the importance of creating a storyline that honors the original film’s legacy and resonates with modern audiences. “We keep talking to Shah Rukh about Baazigar 2,” he said, adding that a sequel would require a strong plot to meet fan expectations.
Originally offered to Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan, the role eventually went to Shah Rukh, whose performance redefined anti-hero characters in Bollywood. If Baazigar 2 is greenlit, it could potentially bring back the intrigue and thrill that made the original film a classic, introducing it to a new generation.
