Shah Rukh Khan Pleaded Lawyer's Wife To Get Him To Fight Aryan Khan's Case
The superstar’s personal and emotional appeal to a top lawyer, including the offer of a private jet, reveals the extraordinary lengths he went to for his son’s freedom.
September 19, 2025: In an honest interview, former attorney general Mukul Rohatgi talked about the crazy things that superstar Shah Rukh Khan tried to get his son Aryan Khan out of jail in the very famous drugs-on-cruise case. Rohatgi was on holiday in the UK and didn’t want to take the case at first, but the actor’s heartfelt plea changed his mind.
Rohatgi says that Shah Rukh Khan called him and, when he said no, sought to talk to his wife. SRK asked her not as a client but as a “father” during the call. This made her push her husband to take the case.
Rohatgi also talked about how they got ready, focusing on how smart and involved Shah Rukh was. Reports say that the actor slept at the same hotel as the top lawyer and had made a lot of notes to talk about the case. “I thought he was very smart and eager. Rohatgi remarked, “He had written down a lot of notes and points.” He further said that Shah Rukh had offered him a private plane to go from England to Mumbai, but he turned it down.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided a cruise ship in October 2021 and detained Aryan Khan. He was in jail for more than three weeks before being released on bond. The NCB later cleared him since there wasn’t enough evidence against him. The case, which got a lot of attention across the country, had a group of well-known lawyers, including Satish Maneshinde and Amit Desai, represent Aryan. Then, Rohatgi was brought in for the Bombay High Court hearing.
