May 6, 2025: At 59, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made a long-awaited and touching debut at the 2025 Met Gala, not to chase fashion headlines, but to fulfill the excitement of his children. The actor graced the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and while his presence was deeply cinematic, it was also profoundly personal.

“I have little kids who are very excited about the Met,” SRK told reporters on the red carpet. “I don’t know if I would have come here on my own, but when Sabya suggested it, they went ‘wow.’ I still don’t know if that was ‘wow, they called you’ or ‘wow, you’ll be good on it’.”

Rather than opt for a loud, avant-garde ensemble, Khan — known for his timeless charm — worked with Sabyasachi Mukherjee to create a look that reflected his persona and the evening’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

SRK wore a custom floor-length coat crafted from Tasmanian superfine wool, featuring Japanese horn buttons, wide lapels, and a peak collar. The look was paired with a black crepe de chine silk shirt, sharply tailored trousers, and a pleated satin kamarbandh, blending tradition and modernity with finesse.

True to both Khan’s and Sabyasachi’s aesthetic, the ensemble was accented with statement jewelry and a striking Bengal Tiger Head Cane, designed in 18k gold, tourmalines, sapphires, and diamonds — a tribute to the designer’s Bengal heritage.
