May 30, 2025: Fans were left heartbroken after Shakira’s highly anticipated concert at Boston’s Fenway Park was abruptly cancelled just hours before showtime. Scheduled for May 29, the show was called off due to “unforeseen circumstances,” alongside another performance by Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn, who were set to co-headline on May 30.

The official Fenway Concerts account posted on X and Instagram:“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira, Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn performances originally scheduled for May 29th and May 30th, respectively, at Fenway Park have been cancelled. Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
While no detailed explanation was given publicly, sources revealed to People that building and stage safety concerns led to the sudden decision.“During a routine pre-show check, structural elements were identified as not being up to standard,” a source said. “All team members are safe.”
Rumors quickly circulated online suggesting that part of the stage roof buckled while technicians were mounting large screens, forcing the cancellation for safety reasons.
Shakira, who had already arrived in Boston, shared her excitement via Instagram Stories on May 28, posting a photo of a sweet welcome display in her hotel room. Fenway Park even reposted it—just hours before the disappointing news broke.
Fans were quick to express their devastation on social media, urging the singer to perform elsewhere or share more information.
Meanwhile, Jason Aldean reposted the cancellation notice to his Instagram Stories, with his own fans demanding answers.“Huge fan Jason, was supposed to see you tomorrow at Fenway. That sucks it’s cancelled. Someone’s gotta say something about what happened at least,” one commenter wrote.
The cancelled shows were part of Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which had recently announced its North American leg in April.
