Shawn Mendes talks about experiencing “lows of life”: 2023

According to People, Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes posted a reflective statement on social media along with a video of himself impromptu singing on a harmonium. “I’ve been singing like this for a lot of the past year. Mendes, 25, wrote, “I discovered that if I sat down with my harmonium and allowed myself with complete trust to sing whatever came out it would often ease the pain in moments of extreme anxiety or fear.”

“After a while, I actually started to fall in love with the dance between the ‘right’ and the ‘wrong’ notes. I realised there were only moments of bliss and euphoria from the ‘right’ notes BECAUSE of the ‘wrong’ notes,” he continued. “At first, it felt so difficult to let myself sing without needing perfection.” I can only sing in key because I’ve developed my listening skills.” The singer of “Stitches” added that “to accept and welcome the lows of life” was the most significant lesson he learned in 2023.

“Not to constantly need to change or fix something in order to feel high again, because i know if i really slow down and listen when i’m low there’s always something to hear,” he said. Mendes has previously discussed his mental health in public. To concentrate on his mental health, he postponed the Wonder: World Tour dates until July 2022.

Mendes acknowledged that it has “been a lot of work” to sort through his feelings, but he is appreciative of the support he has received and thinks the process is working. Since then, People said, the singer has been seen working out, running through the canyons of Los Angeles and emerging from the gym drenched in sweat.
