‘Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas’ to Star Emmy Winner Humphrey Ker and David Reed in Festive Whodunnit

May 20, 2025: A brand-new holiday comedy mystery, Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas, is set to premiere this November with Emmy Award-winner Humphrey Ker and David Reed leading the cast as the iconic detective duo, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.

Announced just ahead of Sherlock Holmes Day on May 22, the production will debut at Birmingham Rep on November 14, 2025, and run through January 11, 2026. The festive whodunnit promises a unique twist on the classic Holmes formula, featuring a string of bizarre deaths among West End performers that Holmes connects to the traditional carol “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

Helmed by director Phillip Breen alongside Becky Hope-Palmer, the show will feature original music by none other than legendary musical theatre giants Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, adding a musical flair to the mystery.

Ker, fresh off his Emmy win for FX/Disney+’s Welcome to Wrexham—where he also serves as the soccer club’s community director—will take on the role of Sherlock Holmes. His recent acting credits include NBC’s American Auto and Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest.

Starring opposite him as Dr. Watson is David Reed, known for his performances in Endeavour, Father Brown, Beyond Paradise, and Ghosts. Reed also brings extensive writing experience from radio comedies and Audible’s Zeroes.

The supporting cast includes Margaret Cabourn-Smith as the ever-reliable Mrs. Hudson and John Kearns as the steadfast Inspector Lestrade.

With comedy, mystery, music, and holiday cheer, Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas is poised to be a must-see event this festive season.
