Shilpa Shetty Cleared by Rajasthan High Court in 11-Year-Old Case Over Controversial Remarks
November 22, 2024: Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty has been granted significant relief by the Rajasthan High Court in a legal case dating back 11 years. The case, which accused the actress of making casteist remarks during a TV interview in 2013, has now been dismissed, giving her a clean chit. Here’s a closer look at the matter and its resolution.
In 2013, Shilpa Shetty faced public backlash after allegedly making objectionable comments about the underprivileged community during a television interview. Her remarks were deemed hurtful by members of the community, leading to an FIR being registered under the SC/ST Act. Public outrage ensued, with accusations that Shetty’s comments were intended to insult the sentiments of the community.
However, during a recent hearing, the Rajasthan High Court dismissed the FIR, citing a lack of substantial evidence against the actress. The court concluded that Shilpa Shetty’s comments did not display an intent to harm or insult the community, effectively clearing her name after more than a decade.
Shilpa’s legal representative, Prashant Patil, provided clarity on the matter. He explained that the actress had previously issued a public apology, emphasizing that her statement had been misrepresented. “The court acknowledged this argument and dismissed the FIR. Shilpa Shetty can now finally breathe a sigh of relief after 11 years,” Patil shared.
Interestingly, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was present during the controversial 2013 interview alongside Shilpa Shetty. While the two share a well-known friendship, Salman’s name was not implicated in the case, and he faced no legal consequences in connection to the matter.
This decision by the Rajasthan High Court has put an end to a prolonged chapter of legal troubles for Shilpa Shetty. Over the years, the actress has faced her share of controversies, both personally and professionally, but this verdict clears her of any wrongdoing in this specific instance.
With the case now dismissed and her clean chit officially granted, Shilpa Shetty can finally move on from the legal troubles tied to her 2013 comments. The resolution serves as a reminder of the importance of context and evidence in addressing controversies and allegations.
