SHOCKING! Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter Faces Sexual Assault Lawsuit: Accused of Infecting Woman With STD That Led to Cancer

Fourth accuser alleges singer used status to exploit her; lawsuit details claims of rape, infection, and long-term trauma

April 15, 2025: Nick Carter, best known as a member of the Backstreet Boys, has been accused once again of sexual assault — this time by a fourth woman, who claims the singer infected her with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), one of which led to her developing cervical cancer.

The latest lawsuit was filed this week by Laura Penly, who says the alleged assault occurred in 2004 when she was just 19 years old. In her complaint, Penly accuses Carter of “forcefully” assaulting her and refusing to use protection, ultimately transmitting the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is known to cause cervical cancer.

Allegations Detail Manipulation, Assault, and Devastating Aftermath

According to court documents obtained by People, Penly described her interactions with Carter from December 2004 to February 2005 as “sexually intimate,” though she claims she was misled into believing Carter was free of STDs.

Penly states that during a visit to Carter’s home — initially under the pretense of watching movies — she was coerced and ultimately assaulted, despite clearly refusing his advances. She says Carter “forcefully” had sex with her and did not use protection.

In July 2005, she tested positive for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HPV, and shortly afterward, was diagnosed with Stage 2 cervical cancer. The treatments, she claims, resulted in long-lasting physical, emotional, and psychological trauma.

Now, she is seeking damages in excess of $15,000 and has requested a jury trial.

Lawyers: “This Lawsuit Aims to Change the Pattern”

Gianna N. Elliot, an attorney with Marsh Law Firm representing Penly, emphasized the gravity of the accusations. “It takes profound courage and resilience for survivors of sexual assault to publicly come forward in pursuit of justice,” she said.

“Carter used his power, status, and fame to sexually abuse and assault multiple young women and avoid any accountability. This lawsuit aims to change that pattern,” Elliot added.

Nick Carter has denied the allegations through his legal team.

This is the fourth such accusation against the pop star. Previous allegations were also covered in a documentary that explored sexual misconduct within the music industry.

Further updates will follow as the case develops.
