The white athletic sock, worn during his 1997 HIStory World Tour, was found by a technician and sold for a stunning €7,688. The final price far exceeded its initial estimate, proving the enduring devotion of the King of Pop’s fans and collectors.
August 1, 2025:The “King of Pop” still fascinates collectors. A single, stained sock that Michael Jackson wore sold for €7,688 (about $8,822) at a French auction. The white athletic sock, which he wore during a 1997 performance on his HIStory World Tour, sold for far more than the estimated €3,000 to €4,000, showing how powerful his standing as a global icon still remains.

A technician found the sock in Jackson’s dressing area after the event in Nîmes. The technician kept the item for decades, saying it was a “exceptional” and “cult object” among devotees. The high amount paid at the auction shows how dedicated Jackson’s fans are. They still grieve him more than ten years after he died.

Jackson died on June 25, 2009, from a heart attack that was brought on by his personal doctor, Conrad Murray, giving him too much propofol and benzodiazepine. The 50-year-old performer was getting ready for a series of comeback concerts in London when he died.
Jackson’s influence is still strong, even though he died sixteen years ago. He sold an estimated 750 million records around the world. Michael, his biopic about how he became the King of Pop, was supposed to come out in October 2025, but it has now been moved back to April 24, 2026.
