Shoojit Sircar Hails Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘I Want To Talk’ as His Best Performance Yet

Mumbai, November 19: Renowned filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, known for his critically acclaimed works, is gearing up for the release of his latest movie, I Want To Talk. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role, and Sircar believes it showcases the actor’s finest performance to date.

In a recent interview, Sircar shared insights into his decision to cast Abhishek and the emotional connection he observed during their first meeting in Melbourne, Australia. “Abhishek took me out for dinner, and we talked for hours. During our conversation, I saw the innocence of his mother (Jaya Bachchan) in his eyes. When we began shooting, even in a silent shot, that purity and warmth were evident. It was exactly what I envisioned for this character,” Sircar recalled.

Calling I Want To Talk a career-defining project for Abhishek, Sircar said, “This is, in my opinion, his best film. There are moments in the movie reminiscent of Irrfan Khan’s brilliance. The depth and silence in his performance speak volumes. You’ll see how much he conveys just through his eyes.”

Sircar also expressed his desire to cast Abhishek alongside his father, Amitabh Bachchan, in a future project. “I would love to work with both of them in the same film. And if Deepika Padukone could join, it would be a dream cast for me. She’s my favorite actress,” he added.

The story of I Want To Talk delves into the emotional complexities of its protagonist, portrayed by Abhishek, as he navigates profound personal struggles. Sircar emphasized the film’s powerful message of resilience and facing life’s challenges. “This film is about embracing a ‘never give up’ attitude. We all face problems, but the story teaches us to confront them with patience. Watching Abhishek’s character will make you reflect on your own issues and inspire you to persevere,” he said.

At a recent music launch event for the film, Abhishek discussed his physical transformation for the role, sharing how he gained weight to portray his character authentically. Pointing to the poster, which features him with a noticeable belly, Abhishek remarked, “That was not a prosthetic; it was real. The transformation was challenging but deeply rewarding. This experience has been life-changing, and we’ve poured our hearts into this film. I hope the audience feels the sincerity in our effort.”

Produced by Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri under the banner of Rising Sun Films, I Want To Talk is set to hit theaters on November 22, 2024.
