Shraddha Kapoor Gets Injured On Eetha Set
The filming of the much-anticipated biopic Eetha, based on Tamasha legend Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, has been temporarily halted after lead actress Shraddha Kapoor fractured a toe on her left foot while performing a complex Lavani folk dance sequence.
November 22, 2025: Actor Shraddha Kapoor is currently undergoing treatment after sustaining a fracture to her left foot’s toe, forcing director Laxman Utekar to temporarily pause the shooting schedule for her upcoming film, Eetha. The film, which explores the life of the legendary Marathi folk artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, began filming earlier this month.
The injury occurred last week while Kapoor was shooting a demanding traditional Lavani dance number, one of the key elements of Vithabai’s Tamasha art form.
According to a source cited in a Midday report, the accident happened during a fast-paced sequence composed by the celebrated duo Ajay-Atul.
Source Insight: “Lavani music characteristically has fast-paced beats and a quick tempo. In this number… Shraddha—sporting a vibrant Nauvari saree, heavy jewellery, and a kamarpatta—had to perform a series of steps in succession to the beats of the dholki. To look the part of a young Vithabai, the actor has put on over 15 kilos. In one step, she mistakenly put all her weight on her left foot and lost her balance as a result.”
Though director Utekar immediately called off the shoot, Kapoor was reportedly keen to avoid wasting the day and completed close-up shots before resting. However, the pain aggravated over the next few days, compelling the unit to discontinue the shoot.
The production team has decided to take a two-week hiatus to allow the actress full recovery time. They are expected to regroup in two weeks to resume filming on the set at Madh Island.
Eetha is touted as one of the most performance-driven roles of Kapoor’s career, requiring her to completely transform her physique and learn the intricate folk dance forms that made Vithabai—affectionately known as the “Tamasha Samradini” (Empress of Tamasha)—a revered figure.
Kapoor, who was last seen in the hit Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank (2024), has been actively preparing for the role while also maintaining a strong social media presence, recently celebrating India’s historic ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup win.
