November 17, 2024: The Tamil film industry is abuzz with reactions to Nayanthara’s explosive open letter accusing Dhanush of unfairly suing her for ₹10 crore. This legal battle has sparked discussions about power dynamics in the industry and has rallied significant support for the “Lady Superstar” from fellow actresses such as Shruti Haasan and Aishwarya Rajesh.
Shruti Haasan, who co-starred with Dhanush in 3 (Moonu), showed her solidarity by liking Nayanthara’s Instagram post. Similarly, Aishwarya Rajesh (Vada Chennai), Aishwarya Lekshmi (Jagame Thandhiram), Parvathy Thiruvothu (Maryan), and other actresses, including Anupama Parameswaran, Nazriya Fahadh, and Manjima Mohan, have also publicly supported Nayanthara, with some sharing her post on their social media platforms. Parvathy, in particular, saluted Nayanthara’s courage, calling it a significant stand in the industry.
Nayanthara’s upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale, set to release on November 18, aims to chronicle her journey in cinema and her relationship with husband Vignesh Shivan. The controversy began when Nayanthara sought Dhanush’s permission to include scenes from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. She alleged that Dhanush ignored her repeated requests for a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
When her team decided to use behind-the-scenes footage readily available on social media instead, Dhanush reportedly sent a legal notice demanding ₹10 crore in damages. In her statement, Nayanthara called this action “an all-time low” and accused Dhanush of harboring a grudge over the success of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
Nayanthara did not mince words in her open letter, saying, “I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage during audio launches. This is an all-time low and speaks volumes about your character.” She further emphasized that her intent was to celebrate her life and work through the documentary, not to diminish anyone else’s contributions.
The controversy has divided opinions in Kollywood, with many hailing Nayanthara for her bravery in speaking out. Dhanush, on the other hand, has yet to issue a public response to her claims, leaving fans and industry insiders curious about how the matter will unfold.
With Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale gearing up for its release, the documentary is already gaining massive attention, promising to deliver not only insights into her life but also a deeper look into the struggles she faced in her career and personal relationships. Fans eagerly await the release and hope for clarity on the ongoing legal tussle.
